Naomi Klein, Nike & Obama

In this New Yorker profile, Naomi Klein compares successful advertising slogans…
…she [Klein] doesn’t spend time wishing Obama were more progressive. “I don’t want to appear too cynical, but when I first saw the ‘Yes We Can’ rock video that Will.I.Am made, my first response was ‘Wow, finally a politician is making ads that are as [...]

Live and Let Lieberman

Dems need to forgive and forget a little with Joe Lieberman. What’s the point in punishing him for his betrayal,  by stripping him of his chairmanship on the Homeland Security and Government Reform committee?
Obama is smart to be extending a fig leaf to Lieberman, and Harry Reid should do the same. Sometimes when [...]

Obama: No On Prop 8

Important that California voters know where Barack Obama stands on Prop 8 (proposing a change in the California state constitution to ban gay marriage):
I think it’s unnecessary…when you start playing around with constitutions just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person…that’s not what America’s about…
Right on. Here he is making this statement on [...]

He’s Just A Man

As usual, the GOP is trying to whip up our dander, comparing Obama with everyone from Karl Marx to Mao to - yes, even Jim Jones.  They are warning us not to drink the kool aid, or we’ll all be doomed.
They’ve even found a few game TV “journalists” (Barbara West, you are scary) to generate [...]

Bringing Those “Active Grannies” Home

Nate Silver seems to thinking the race may be tightening “slightly”…as does Mark Blumenthal, who says:
We logged 19 new statewide polls yesterday. Of the new polls that update results collected by the same pollster earlier in October, most as usual showed very small, non-significant changes although the overall pattern hints of a slight improvement for McCain: 7 [...]

Va Va Va Vroom

In another ominous sign for the McCain/Palin folks, Virginia has gone solid blue.

And Gallup has Obama up by 11% nationally. Clearly, the whole Ayers line of attack is not working. Time to break out Rev. Wright for the home stretch? Count on it.

The Powell Endorsement

Even though we all expected it , this was big.
Today, on NBC’s “Meet the Press” with Tom Brokaw, we saw Colin Powell make his much anticipated endorsement of Senator Barack Obama.

In particular,  Powell praised Obama’s broader coalition and “more inclusive” approach:
..On the Republican side, over the last 7 weeks, the approach of the Republican party [...]

Obama: The Ultimate Flypaper

John McCain doesn’t want to go away.
Fortunately, flies like McCain (and Palin) usually get stuck somewhere they don’t want to be.
Here’s to hoping they meet their sticky (GOP ticket) endings sooner, rather than later!

He Doesn’t Get Rattled

Is this guy for real?  No matter what you think of Senator Obama, you have to admire his even temperament.
Forget Joe the Plumber - Obama is Joe Cool.

Andrew Sullivan, describes it this way:
His calm is almost unnatural. I’ve been following Barack Obama closely now for two years and I’ve never seen him or even heard of [...]

It’s Also The Little Things…

Everyone knows this a big election with big issues at stake for our country:  the economy, the war, energy, and repairing our nation’s image here and abroad.
I’d like to speak to the image issue for a moment and suggest that the image of Barack Obama - yes, his good looks, his deep, soothing voice,   his composure, his coolness, [...]
